Patronage. Andrey G., 3 years old, hydrocephalus + cerebral spastic infantile paralysis
Andriy G. was born in 2012. He had a shunt placement surgery in August 2012 and in October 2012 — a shunt revision surgery. Aside from the hydrocephalus, Andriy also has spastic tetraparesis (severe form cerebral spastic paralysis).
UPD 10 DEC 15
Andriy G. was hospitalized again last week (something to do with his ulcer), but he has already been transferred back to the orphanage today. We will know more about what was wrong tomorrow.
Andriy has changed a lot after the rehabilitation course; he seems more relaxed and more «together» at the same time. I brought him a soft toy book and tied it to the crib, and he actually grabbed it! We had a little fun playing «swings» and tickling. Andriy smiled and laughed almost the entire time I was there.
UPD 28 NOV 15
Our little victory!! :))
Andriy is 3 years old. He currently lives in an orphanage a little outside of Kiev. He’s just finished a two week rehabilitation course and showed great results. He is looking for a loving family to call his own!
He can be internationally adopted…

Rehabilitation course for Roma and Andriy at the Clinic of V. Kozyavkin >>>
UPD 09 JULY 15
Andiy’s personal parcel has been delivered today! It actually says so! Right on the box. From the far away country of Canada! By planes and ships! From Svitlana Skoreiko. The parcel is full of real treasure: a personal DVD player with headphones, CDs with music, clothes, a talking Elmo, educational toys. Everything is labeled, thought through — even an adapter from the American to the Ukrainian outlets.
So Andriy has his own property now!
At the beginning of our walk today Adnriy was very constrained, but during the second hour he started feeling much better, moer relaxed. He was very interested in David and even tried to turn to look at him.
UPD 23 JUNE 15
A wonderful person, Svitlana, from Canada, has decided to pay for Andriy’s rehabilitation course at the Kozyavkina Clinic.
We have already contacted the Clinic and they are waiting for the Andriy’s medical documents. We have also talked to the chief of medicine at the orphanage and they have agreed to let Andriy go to the Clinic with the only condition that we do it during the fall, not summer (as someone from the orphanage has to go with Andriy and many people are on vacation during the summer).
Andriy, as always, was genuinely happy during the walk, up until it was time to get off the swing, at which point he started crying ![]()
UPD 09 JUNE 15
Our Andriy needs special formula, because of his ulcer. Thanks to the girls, Tanya Sheremet and Svitlana, we have managed to buy it at the wholesale price. Instead of 235 UAH ($9.7) at any regular pharmacy we only paid 156.38 UAH ($6.5) per can, so we bought a box of twelve. Including the bank commission the total amount came to 1,900 UAH ($79).

UPD 22 MAY 15
It turns out Andriy has stomach ulcer :(( At least it partially explains why he refused to eat. The condition was only worsened by the force feeding through the probe… And the probe itself could also have been irritating the mucous + Andriy’s shunt is placed in his abdomen… Now he needs to get this treated as well… :(( Andriy will not be at the hospital much longer, however, as his condition has stabilized. He’ll be back at the orphanage by the end of the week..
UPD 15 APR 15
Today Andriy finally got his MRI. Thanks to Artem Paschenko, who brought the boy to the Insitute of Neurosurgery early this morning, Aleksanda Telyatnikova who met him there and took through all the procedures, and Natalia Graschenkova, who organized both the MRI and the consult!
Thanks to the neurosurgeons Plavskiy P. and Myhailyuk V., the MRI was done for free (even though it costs over 1,000 UAH ($40)). Thanks to Dr. Olga for the painless anaesthesia; it’s literally impossible to find any veins on Andriy, but somehow she managed to get in the first time — Andriy didn’t even realize what happened
Overall Andriy is very pale, skinny and dehydrated, however
Weighing only 9.5kg…
Now Andriy has fresh MRI results, which we can take to a consult with neurologist.
From the neurosurgical point of view — everything is good. Andriy has been prescribed Ceraxon, massages and other rehabilitative procedures. After the consult with the neurologist we’ll be starting the rehabilitation program for him.
Also, this Sunday is Andriy’s birthday! He’ll be turning 3!
