Annual Report 2015

Friends, another year is behind us! Our new successes and failures, miracles…

In 2015 we managed to provide help for nearly twice as much as in the year before. 2 million UAH. And this isn’t due to any big companies or rich donors, it’s just us: regular people, small businesses. More than often a child’s life was saved thanks to the 100-150-200 UAH donations… We have more regular donors, who give to certain programs on a regular basis.  In 2015 we have started new programs, started taking an active part in the rehabilitation on our orphan kids. The number of our volunteers increased! It’s all thanks to you! Thank you so much for being with us!

Treatment Funding

Includes the purchase of everything necessary for to perform surgeries and for the post-surgical treatment of the children with neurosurgical diagnoses: antibiotics, blood medication, shunting systems, surgical kits, etc, as well as clothes, baby bottles, formula, diapers, etc – when necessary.

In 2015 we managed to help 60 children in need of neurosurgical treatment. Most of them were getting treatment at the Institute of Neurosurgery in Kiev, eight of them – at the Ohmatdet, three of them were abandoned by their families at the hospital, two of them were brought from the orphanages. Seven of our children have passed away. May they rest in peace.

Altogether we have spent 990,383.07 UAH on treatment funding with an average of 16,500 UAH per child. Last year the average amount was 10,000 UAH and two years ago – 5-6,000 UAH for one child. So in last two years, because of the exchange rate and the taxes on medication it became three times as expensive to get treatment.

Urgent Kids Fund

For the kids brought in by ambulances, as well as those who need urgent surgery with no time for a fundraiser. These happen a lot. Sometimes the mother is still at the hospital after having a C-section and her baby is already having surgery at the Institute. In such cases the child’s life often depends on the Urgent Kids Fund.

In 2015 the Urgent Kids Fund was 145,692.65 UAH

Medical equipment, disposables and household needs

A very important part of our spending and also the one that is extremely hard to raise funds for. Without it, however, both surgical rooms and ICUs wouldn’t be able to work.

Patronage Program for the neurosurgical kids at the orphanages of Ukraine

The program grew bigger :)) We have about 30 children from four different orphanages under our supervision now. What we do: visit, make arrangements for consults, take the kids for checkups, buy medications and specialized formula/baby food, help with medical and social rehabilitation. The program is completely volunteer based.

8-10 kids in our care + regular help with food, medication and diapers for the other 70 kids.

Our physical therapy specialist comes to the orphanage three times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8am to 12-2pm depending on the number of kids.
Twice a week our volunteers visit the children: on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

So someone from our organization is in Boyarka every day of the week :) To join this program contact Katerina Kerez.

  • Aleksandra Telyatnikova

  • Aleksandra Telyatnikova

  • Aleksandra Telyatnikova

  • Natalya Gorkova

  • Natalya Gorkova

  • Aleksandra Telyatnikova
